It is still seven weeks until Election Day.
Early balloting begins this week in Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Balloting is changing in a number of states due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many are making it easier to vote early or by mail. Ten states and the District of Columbia will send all or most active registered voters a ballot through the mail that the voter can return to their election office by mail, in person, or to a secure dropbox.
Most states will give voters the option to cast their ballot before Election Day, either by voting at a regular polling place just as one would do on November 3, or by casting a paper ballot early in their local elections office, which is some are calling “in-person-absentee” voting.
For Americans concerned for their personal safety as a result of the pandemic, the goal for many states is having people avoid long lines or crowds on election day, or avoiding having to use the Postal Service which is under allegations of lost, missing, or untimely mail deliveries.
Presidential debates do not begin until September 29, with others set for October 15 and 22. The vice presidential debate is slated for October 7.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For voters in America who select an early voting option to be certain of their decisions without having heard the candidates debate.
- That election officials would count ballots with integrity and accuracy.
- For the candidates to remain safe and healthy on the campaign trail.
